Geographic Information System – GIS

Federal Geographic Data Committee
The Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) is an interagency committee that promotes the coordinated development, use, sharing, and dissemination of geospatial data on a national basis. This nationwide data publishing effort is known as the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). The NSDI is a physical, organizational, and virtual network designed to enable the development and sharing of this nation's digital geographic information resources. FGDC activities are administered through the FGDC Secretariat, hosted by the National Geospatial Programs Office (NGPO) of the U.S. Geological Survey. The NGPO oversees other geospatial programs of national importance including The National Map and the Geospatial One-Stop activity.

Louisiana Geographic Information Center (LAGIC)
LAGIC was established by the Louisiana GIS Council (LGISC) and the Louisiana Office of E-Services to facilitate the distribution of geographic information, provide technical assistance, and support GIS data development among state, federal, and local government.

Louisiana GIS Council
The state legislature created the Louisiana Geographic Information Systems Council (LGISC) in 1995 by a Louisiana Legislative act. LGISC consists of 21 member agencies representing parish, regional, and state governments and public organizations. – U.S. Maps and Data is a geographic information system (GIS) portal, also known as the Geospatial One-Stop (GOS), that serves as a public gateway for improving access to geospatial information and data under the Geospatial One-Stop E-Government initiative.


National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism – MIPT
The National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism located in Oklahoma City is dedicated to expanding and sharing knowledge to help prevent terrorism and mitigate its effects.

Responder Knowledge Base
Sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness and the National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism, the Responder Knowledge Base (RKB) has been designed to provide emergency responders with a single source for integrated information on current equipment, including organizing lists such as the Inter Agency Board’s Standardized Equipment List (SEL), and the Authorized Equipment List (AEL) from the Office for Domestic Preparedness.
Vendors, testing agencies, standards organizations and trainers are supporting the RKB by populating it with current data. There is no charge to them for posting their data, and no charge to the community for accessing it. The RKB is provided as a public service.
